The Scott & Fyfe design process begins with understanding your specific requirements and challenges. Do you have a product that needs to withstand high UV exposure? Or perhaps you have a technical material that needs to be flexible to go round corners but durable enough for high pressure.

During this stage, the focus is on broadening perspective to create a diverse knowledge base for inspiration, employing various methods to generate ideas including market research, user research, design research, technology analysis, interviews, observations, empathic modelling and information management.

The Definition stage focuses on interpreting and aligning findings from the previous stage with project objectives.

In the Define phase, using techniques like the Six Hats method allows us to problem-solve and look at decisions from multiple perspectives so all aspects are thoughtfully considered. The Discover and Define phases of the double diamond method are crucial to ensure effectiveness and value in the end out-put.

The Development stage requires a multidisciplinary team to tackle the challenges identified during the Discover and Define stages. It is the team’s responsibility to resolve any underlying issues while advancing the design through testing and prototyping, allowing for thorough review and improvement.

Our state-of-the-art design tools and techniques at this stage such as SCAMPER (Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify, Put to another use, Eliminate, and Reverse) allow us to prototype quickly and adopt a fail fast approach to enable rapid iteration and feedback.

This final stage of the process involves taking the completed concept through the last phases of testing, production, and approval. It also serves to identify any necessary modifications in the design process, providing valuable insights for future projects.
